Former governor of Lagos State and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has on  Tuesday told the people of Edo State that Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the forthcoming Edo governorship election does not deserve their votes.
He has  therefore called on the Edo people to reject him as a prospective governor at the polls. .
This was disclosed  in a sponsored broadcast on TVC, the former Lagos state governor said: “Obaseki does not deserve any democratic ballot paper. Don’t vote for him, I appeal to all of you”.

“I want to appeal to you to reject Godwin Obaseki in this coming election. I have suffered with many others to bring about this democratic regime, that today, we are enjoying in the country.

“Then, Godwin Obaseki didn’t participate in any aspect of the struggle to enshrine democracy in the country. Therefore, he could not understand the value and the pains associated with this democratic struggle,,” Tinubu said.

Reacting to the broadcasted message, former Vice President and 2019 PDP Presidential flagbearer, AlhajiAbubakar has counseled the people of Edo to vote wisely and defend their votes.

This was contained in a message  on his facebook handle, where the former vice president advised Edo voters to vote for Obaseki, who is contesting against the APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

He said, “The democracy that we enjoy today was bought at a great price. We can only deepen and sustain it by respecting the sanctity of the ballot and necessary review of our electoral processes.

“As the great people of Edo State go to the polls to elect their governor this weekend, they need to be provided with a secured environment to cast their votes and be assured that their votes will count.

Atiku therefore urges all duly registered voters of conscience and who truly care about the wellbeing of Edo to turn out en masse to cast and defend their vote for Governor Obaseki.
